Description

I have two copies of Macross Zero's episode #2. The first one I aquired was subtitled by AnimeJunkies who are notorius for subtitles that are of lower standards, and video quality of lower standards. I aquired another one later to make sure this was true. Both are actually good, and I would usually delete the animejunkies one because all my other episodes are subtitled by ANBU & ANIMEONE. However, this particular file of eisode two, distributed by animejunkies has a special attribute...
Adam, my fellow Dj and highschool comrade, asked me once upon a time "have you ever seen a messed up DivX movie?" I replied
"no, i don't think so," and he proceeded to enlighten me.
"Apparently, XVid and DivX use motion capture while they're encoding, and when there's a keyframe layed down, it redefines the texture." And normally, when one skips ahead to a specific point in a movie on your computer, there's that tiny delay where it's looking for the latest keyframe, and then playing out all the motion to get up to that point. "Well, if you get one that's messed up, the texture stays from the last frame you were just on. It's really weird. You can paste people's faces on to moving objects if you remember where things are." Animejunkies had provided me with one of these hidden treasures. The image you see above is of some rippling water. I skipped around a bit until I found this scene, then I clicked on the position slider periodically, about once every second, and the texture kept resetting and then moving as the water was moving. I'm not sure where the red came from, but I'm guessing it came from another scene, and then it started to bleed everywhere. I consider this a fractal.. Why wouldn't it be?

Whoa, it's like a mindtrip. I'm mystified.
